FAQ

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 5, 2008, 11:20 PM

Journal

I started up this specific journal entry because my website's current FAQ page is sort of lacking. I've listed a few questions that I probably get asked the most.

If you have a suggestion for something that should be on the list, feel free to ask me your question. If it seems like a good question, I'll add it to this list. If it's just something silly, I'm probably not going to include it. Thanks!

Art

What programs do you use? I usually sketch in Macromedia Flash CS3 and do ink/color in Photoshop CS3. Occasionally I will ink in Flash or Painter IX.

Do you have some kind of comic or story? I have a short novel about Ferris and Demos in high school. If you'd like to read it, please join the LJ community for it: [link] If you don't have LJ, you may email or note me for a link to it.

Personal

Are you a girl or a boy? My physique is much like that of a mitochondrion, and to reproduce I simply split in half.

What is your MSN/AIM account and can we chat? Sorry, I'm a recluse and don't like talking with strangers. Nothing personal.

School

I heard you go to SVA. How do you like it? As far as I can tell, SVA is a good school. They'd allowed me to major in Animation without taking any obnoxious 3D classes. The teachers are all professionals in their field and have been in the industry for a long time. Though the chair of the Illustration department is a legendary tool, the chair of Animation has been very helpful and generous.

How are SVA's facilities? When I went to AI, there was only one animation scanning machine on a separate floor and it always had a long line. SVA has several pencil test rooms and a computer lab devoted to compositing your films. Instead of a two light tables in a single work room like AI, SVA allows each student to check out a light board to use on a desk at each seat. You do not need to lug a lightbox between school and home. If you can't tell, I do not recommend AI (The Art Institutes). AI is the McDonalds of art school. Fast, bad for you, and not as cheap as it should be.

How are the SVA dorms? Fortunately, I have never lived in an SVA dorm, and I plan on keeping it that way.

What about SVA's pricing? How can you afford it? Though the Silas Rhodes scholarship is paying for half of my tuition, I've been taking out loans from Sallie Mae to pay for classes. I also work part time. It's a moderately expensive school, but so far it's been worth it.

"AI is the McDonalds of art school. Fast, bad for you, and not as cheap as it should be." Very cool statement. Mind if it's quoted? ;)

Yours is marked as mailed! If it hasn't arrived by now it should be soon. :)
*jisuk:iconjisuk: Jan 6, 2008, 12:16:35 AM
Haha, where would you quote something like that?
*mzoraida:iconmzoraida: Jan 6, 2008, 12:25:17 AM
Oh, I just talk to a lot of people about art schools. This is such a great analogy that I'm sure I'd be able to squeeze it into a few conversations.
